Nefiso Abdi (middle left), Hodo Mohamed (middle right), Eliza Vu (furthest left), and Abyan Ahmed (furthest right) from The Joy Project were thrilled to be a part of this year’s NEDA Care Fair, a community-centered event dedicated to spreading awareness, providing resources, and supporting individuals affected by eating disorders. The fair empowers local communities by providing education and opportunities to connect with others, further strengthening understanding, hope, and recovery.

This year’s event in Minneapolis, Minnesota, included numerous activities, such as a NEDA Walk, interactive activities like bracelet making and drawing, and booths from other local eating disorder support programs. Attendees and other volunteers also had the chance to hear empowering stories from individuals who previously lived with eating disorders, sharing the path of struggle, resilience, and ultimately recovery.

The Joy Project contributed to the fair by sharing our mission of connecting, educating, and supporting those affected by eating disorders. We offered attendees tools of recovery and a reminder that recovery does not need to be faced alone. By sharing our resources and events, we hope to spread hope in recovery and build stronger connections.

Participating in the NEDA Care Fair was a meaningful experience for The Joy Project through our engagement with the community. We contributed to spreading the message that recovery is possible and support is always available. Together, through a community, we continue working toward a path where individuals are empowered on their journey towards recovery.
