Below is a list of jobs that currently need to be filled as well as
various tasks that need to be done. Right now, all of the work needs to
be done on a volunteer basis. However, those who volunteer with us now
may have a chance of being offered a paid position in the future.
Please contact us at
if you would like to get involved and help to create a better future
for people with eating disorders.

While we can always
use assistance from anyone who has a few hours to donate here and
there, our biggest need right now is for volunteer staff members who
are able to take on a leadership role, manage programs, and participate
in helping The Joy Project to move to the next level to become a
long-standing, self-sustaining organization with maximum national and
worldwide impact.
The Fundraising director will be in charge of coordinating fundraising
efforts, including: assisting in the planning of fundraising events,
soliciting corporate donations, assisting with grant applications, and
coordinating volunteers for fundraising efforts. Previous experience in
non-profit development is greatly preferred.
We are
currently seeking an individual or group of individuals who would be
willing to
coordinate events for National Eating Disorders Awareness Week, which
occurs in
mid-February.
We need a volunteer to keep our discussion blog active
by posting information, quotes, questions, comments, and articles
relevant to
the field of eating disorders. This volunteer will also work to promote
the
blog on sites such as myspace and facebook in order to encourage people
to
participate in the discussions.
We need volunteers to contact local churches and
other locations in order to find appropriate, consistently available
locations
for additional support groups in our area. In addition, we need
volunteers that
will work with our Events staff in order to research locations and make
arrangements for upcoming events and conferences.
We are
seeking multiple individuals for entering data into our treatment
directory
website. In addition, we are seeking individuals who can follow up with
centers
who have not yet sent us their information, so we can create the most
complete
treatment directory ever!
We need research-minded individuals who want to
participate in the development and conducting of future research
studies. In
addition, we need individuals who are
willing to stay up-to-date with current research and write
informational
presentations and papers on various topics.
Creating our bi-monthly newsletter is an important job. The
Newsletter Editor will be responsible for soliciting articles for
inclusion,
editing content, creating graphic images, and formatting the newsletter
with
HTML and CSS before sending it out to our members.
If you would like to be notified of upcoming volunteer opportunities
that can be carried out on the internet, from any location, send us an
email at volunteercoordinator@joyproject.org
with the words 'online volunteer' in the subject. We will add you to
our list and you will be notified of upcoming online activities that
are available.
If you would like to volunteer to provide direct support, you will be
required to spend a minimum of 6 months working in a non-direct-support
volunteer role prior to being able to apply for a direct-support role.
Please contact us at
if you would like to donate your time to this good cause. Whether you'd
like to help for an hour or two, or on an ongoing basis, your
assistance will be very much appreciated!
